HereditArte Lab, a pilot project led by the Institute for Heritage Conservation and Safeguarding, in partnership with Parkurbis, CDN Core, the University of Beira Interior and the University of Extremadura, was one of the winners of the Promove 2026 – The Future of Inland Territories competition, promoted by the “la Caixa” Foundation.
The funding awarded will be used to develop the laboratory, which will address a gap in the cross-border Beira Interior/Extremadura region: the lack of specialised, local technical and scientific capacity dedicated to the study, preservation, diagnosis and conservation of movable and integrated cultural heritage.
From the University of Beira Interior, the project involves Professor Maria do Carmo Raminhas Mendes, a lecturer at the Faculty of Arts and Letters – Department of Arts, and a researcher at iA* – Research Unit in Arts.
From the University of Extremadura, the project involves Professor Pilar Mogollón Cano-Cortés, Professor José Julio García Arranz and Professor María Antonia Pardo Fernández, lecturers at the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters – Department of Art and Territorial Sciences, and researchers at the Unit for the Conservation of Artistic Heritage.
