Seminar: Colorful Stories. Woven Stories

Based on the exhibitions on display at the Wool Museum as part of the Covilhã design triennial, Rita Salvado will present ongoing research projects at the iA* unit. The exhibition “Colorful Stories. Dyeing with recipes from other times.” presents preliminary results of the REVIVE project – The threads of the past weaving the future: The colors from the Royal Textile Factory of Covilhã, 1764-1850 (2022.01243.PTDC). The exhibition “Woven Stories. From Debuxo and Cardado Covilhã.” reveals a line of research in fashion design that uses the historical archive of the Wool Museum. The meeting point for this seminar is at 2 pm at Parada.

Rita Salvado, Director of the Wool Museum of the University of Beira Interior and researcher at the iA* Arts Research Unit, she also coordinates the PhD in Fashion Design at UBI. She develops research on synergies between Textiles, Fashion, Design and Heritage. She cooperates with companies on R&D projects and knowledge transfer actions. She focuses on the projective dimension of the Wool Museum’s collection, in particular the study of the collection of historical fabrics and the development of educational and cultural tourism services, which are linked to the Wool Route – TRANSLANA.
