DesignaLab

DESIGNALab is a space for the development of research in Design from a multidisciplinary perspective, without detrimenting the specificities of this disciplinary area. Entrenched in the plurality of paths and approaches of its team,research is anchored both in project and experimental practice, as well as in the theoretical and critical interrogation of phenomena that have in Design the common denominator in the problematization of the contemporary world.

Theoretical and experimental interrogation of Design related phenomena, framed after criticism, matter, and memory.

DesignaLab is structured around 3 programmatic axes, thought of as a framework for different perspectives from which we propose to think and work Design. In addition to giving greater specificity to the work context of researchers and collaborators, the three axes gain shape through activities, projects, and research organized within the scope of PhD theses and MA dissertations or projects.

  1. Criticism: Dissent and Deviation; Ethical and political challenges; Reading and discussion of fundamental texts; Science communication and dissemination;
  2. Matter: Materialities; Tastes, fashions, modes, and manners; Study, contextualization and problematization of the Artifact; Body, skin and meaning; DIY; Techniques and Technologies;
  3. Memory: Laboratory of memories; History; Archive; Textile heritage, territory and community; Culture and identity; Visualities.

DesignaLab also promotes the organization and implementation of activities and projects that are transversal to the three axes (occasionally converging with the interests and goals of other iLabs).
